Programme Officer Entrepreneurship
SPARK’s programmes in Jordan focus on access to education and the labour market for youth. The employability of Syrian, Palestinian and Jordanian youth can increase through the SPARK projects in Jordan contribute to education, employability and job creation for Syrian, Palestinian and Jordanian youth. The programmes aim to unlock the growth potential of Jordanian MSME’s and start-ups, to contribute to the generation of much needed growth in the ailing Jordanian economy, by supporting existing MSMEs and start-ups. Moreover, SPARK works together with local higher education institutes and other national partners to improve and introduce entrepreneurship education and internship programmes. In addition, SPARK technically prepares and motivates young Syrians, Palestinians and Jordanians for an active role in the future reconstruction of Syria. Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
The Programme Officer Entrepreneurship will be working under supervision of the Programme Manager:
Coordinate the timely implementation of SME and business start-up support activities;
Under supervision of the SME expert liaise with government and business stakeholders to ensure the impact of the programme and synergy with other relevant initiatives in Jordan;
Build capacity of SPARK staff and partners on the topic of SME and start-up development in Jordan ;
Study, analyze and evaluate the business plans presented by entrepreneurs;
Ensure the promotion and management of the training programmes;
Co-develop and ensure quality of business skills trainings;
Assist with periodic market studies in relation to the target populations in order to assess the training needs and to develop the training modules to be offered to entrepreneurs;
Other tasks as required.
Requirements and skills:
Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience working in the field of SME and business development, including hands on experience working for one of more SMEs or start-ups in Jordan, previous experience in a similar position or environment is an advantage;
Relevant educational background, for example in business development or economics is an advantage;
Proven experience in analyzing business plans;
Has a network of entrepreneurs in Jordan;
Experience with post-conflict setting in the MENA region is an advantage;
Has in-depth technical knowledge of the Jordanian market, gaps and roles of different industries;
Sound analytical, organizational, project management and negotiation skills and the ability to conduct hands-on training for SMEs and/or start-ups;
Proven track record of negotiating with multiple stakeholders including local authorities;
Previous experience in developing and conducting trainings is an advantage;
Ability to work independently;
Fluency in English and Arabic required;

Full-time contract for 12 months with possibility for extension
